What's your proudest DGV-related accomplishment? Winning 21 Pro Tour events with a stretch of 5 in a row and 7 of 8. When I was playing regularly during that time, I just felt like I couldn’t lose. The fact it’s been this long and I’m still at/near the top makes me proud of what was no easy task.
A close second would be winning the Elite Series Pro Tour Open, an 8 week marathon where I beat out LonelyBelgian when he was in his prime! I was able to string together finishes of 1,4,2,24,1,8,2 and 2 over 8 consecutive Pro Tours.
What's your favorite DGV course? Crow’s Nest - It has the best mix of holes including changes in elevation (way down, up and around), unique scenery (caves, mountain tops, rock formations), while still being fun and accessible for all player levels.
What's your favorite DGV hole? I don’t know if I have a favorite hole. This may be recency bias, but if forced to choose my favorite current hole to play it would be Ikigai #4. Just an awesome par 4 which follows the trend of what I like in a par 4: not ridiculously long, accessible to many, and a placement shot off the tee that can make the hole easy or hard.
What two discs would go in your Team Series pack? Accurate Wind Fuse and Light Glide Rive.
If you could add/change one thing about DGV, what would it be? Removing the real-life courses, or at least replacing them with “replicas” that keep the same physics as the fantasy courses. Although the idea behind them is sound, I’m not a fan of having two different styles of play within the game.
Any other DGV accomplishments? I’m proud of the content I have put out on my YouTube channel. I’ve always been one to share the knowledge, even though I know it meant giving away tips and tricks and giving other players a competitive advantage. What better way to grow the sport than to share the knowledge! (Forehand throw-ins FTW!)
Outside of DGV, what are you best at? I like to think the 3 things I’m best at involve things that make a successful life: being a good husband, a good father to my two daughters, and a good teacher. The success I have had in the teaching profession has prepared me well for the many contributions to DGV: patience while learning, analytical approach to holes and rounds, and thoughtful expression of ideas and strategies that have made my YouTube channel a success. It’s hard to separate the characteristics that go into everything mentioned since there is so much overlap.
Describe your custom layout: Dr. Urdizzle's Home Remedy: My 9-hole layout was designed with a couple thoughts in mind. First, I enjoy similar holes in DGV to the ones I enjoy in real life: par 4’s that are accessible to many levels of player and require placement tee shots over those that utilize sheer power. I’d take a real-life par 4 that is 550 ft but requires hitting a specific landing zone over one that is wide open and 800 ft long. The par 5’s were picked using a similar thought process: slightly longer, with placement being crucial. Secondly, for the par 3’s, I love “testers” that really make you think about your shot and could wreak havoc if you lose concentration for even a moment (Kaho Park #8). And placing them near the end of the round will make someone in the lead think twice!
