Disc Stats Explained
All molds have four main disc "Properties" that determine flight paths:
- Drag: Basically "Speed" where a lower drag number means a faster disc
- Lift: The amount of vertical movement from the disc. A higher number means more lift which can add total distance to the flight (great for Distance disc) but also make it a bit less predictable for throw-ins.
- Turn: Horizontal movement (to the ➡️ for a RHBH). Higher number means more movement. You see this mostly in the initial disc flight.
- Fade: Horizontal movement (to the ⬅️ for a RHBH). Higher number means more movement. You see this mostly at the end of the disc flight.
"Attributes" applied to a disc can change some of these flight properties:
- Extra Glide: Decreases Drag by 10% making the disc fly farther
- Accurate: Reduces the disc's shakiness before release to produce a more predictable flight path (not allowed on Distance Discs)
- Big Skip: Increases the "bounce" reaction when the disc lands producing more distance after impact (Only on Fairways and Distance)
- Roll: Changes the disc's composition to produce longer rollers and also more friction on impact to stop the disc faster (Only on Fairways and Distance)
- Wind Break: Decreases the impact of the wind by 25%. All Putters have Wind Break with or without the attribute applied, but applying the Wind Break attribute adds another 0.75 multiplier. This means a Wind Break Putter only experiences 56.25% of the wind effect.
- Water Skip: Allows a disc to skip across the surface of water (up to 3 times), but requires enough water depth to skip. Landing in shallows or near a shoreline can cause sinking. (Only on Fairways and Distance)
- Sticky: Changes the disc's composition to produce more friction on impact. Base disc material has a friction of 1 and bounciness of 0.2. Putters and Mids with Sticky have a friction of 2 and a bounce of 0. Fairways and Distance with Sticky have a friction of 1.5 and a bounce of 0.
- Light: Decreases a disc's weight by 2%. This can increase flying distance but also increase the wind effect on the disc.
- Heavy: Increases a disc's weight by 5%. This can decrease flying distance but also decrease the wind effect on the disc.
- Extra Turn: Decreases the "Fade" of a disc by 5%.
- Extra Fade: Increases the "Fade" of a disc by 5%.
You can get the relative stability of a disc by taking Turn/Fade. Higher numbers will be more understable, and lower numbers will be more overstable.
